Mergermarket Features Roundabout Catering Group's MaryBeth Smith
Roundabout Catering Group is cooking up plans for growth. Owner MaryBeth Smith shared in a recent interview with Mergermarket that the family-owned Sparks, Nevada-based company is looking towards growth opportunities for event venues and bakeries as part of its next phase of evolution.
While the company’s roots are in northern Nevada, Smith said they’re looking to set their sights beyond that, exploring opportunities in areas such as Las Vegas, Sacramento, Seattle and Utah.
In addition to its catering, party rental and event venue services, Roundabout also operates Franco Baking Company, which supplies freshly baked bread to retailers such as Walmart, Costco, Safeway and Port of Subs. The company expects to extend Franco’s footprint across the Western U.S.
With about half of its revenue coming from its baking division, Smith projects that number will grow within the next three to five years. The company remains profitable and continues to fund its acquisitions with cash, including Franco Baking Company in 2023 and The Virgil, a Reno-based event and wedding venue, in 2024.
Founded in 2006, Roundabout remains very much a family affair. Smith leads the business alongside her husband, Chef Colin Smith, and MaryBeth’s daughter, Elizabeth McBride, who serves as finance and general manager. Several of the Smiths’ family members are also involved in the company.
Today, Roundabout employs nearly 200 people and continues to expand its presence in the catering, events and baking industries—always with an eye toward bringing people together through unforgettable cuisine and memorable experiences.
