The Five Must-Haves You Need for a Memorable Holiday Party

By MaryBeth Smith, Owner

Ahhh… the holidays. For some, it’s the happiest time of the year. For others, it’s a bit stressful. For those of you who like to get into the spirit and throw a festive soiree, here are five useful tips to make your holiday party fun and successful.

  1. Linens can make a world of difference

An easy (and maybe not thought of) way to dress up any party is to incorporate nice linens. It can elevate your décor score immensely. You don’t always have to use the traditional red or green colors. We’re seeing a lot of gold and pretty blues being integrated into the mix. Gold and a deep red are beautiful together.

  1. A signature drink will be the buzz of the party

A delicious signature cocktail is a great way to make your party memorable. At Roundabout Catering & Party Rentals, we infuse a lot of pomegranate into our drinks during the season – the taste and color are absolutely ideal for the time of year. You can dress things up with fun glasses as well. And don’t’ forget wonderful wine options. Great wine is a must have!

  1. A nice centerpiece will be the center of attention

An elegant centerpiece brings everything together cohesively in a room full of guests. This is where you can make your personality shine, by adding in elements that you love. It could be a piece that’s simply elegant, shows a little whimsy or features some glitter and bling. Whatever it may be, it’s a perfect way to showcase your own creativity.

  1. Creative cuisine brings it all together

Who doesn’t love what’s on the menu? At this time of year, we are seeing more appetizer parties that integrate warm, comforting dishes throughout the evening. At Roundabout Catering, we love serving dishes with seafood – scallops, shrimp and crab cakes are divine. Lamb chop lollypops are also a favorite among our clientele. If you’re having a sit-down dinner, family style settings are a fabulous way to allow guests to share an evening. Rib roasts, seared maple leaf duck breasts, cornbread stuffing and butternut squash are among popular choices. Quaint dinner parties are trending too. Wine pairings are always a hit. A favorite is Sauvignon Blanc paired with a candied citrus seared scallop.

  1. Plan ahead, and have fun

A successful host plans ahead and is organized. If you’re prepped in advance, then you can socialize and enjoy the party with your guests. When you’re not worried about things, you can relax and make it a great experience. If you’re in need of assistance, let Roundabout Catering assist with all the finite details so you can focus on your guests and have fun!
